Lechlade Again

Sunday was the day for another assault on Lechlade. As last time it was bitterly cold in the morning, however the sky was clear and it looked set to warm up.

The weather had been settled which is always a good sign, however the wind was from the east which is never a good omen.....and this is what it proved.

It was quite honestly the worse day at Lechlade ever for fishing and this is including days where I have blanked there. It was really really tough going, the fish were very deep and not really feeding so any fish had to be induced to take. I managed to take two 'bows both around 6lb, however I had a total fight of around 2 mins from these fish....no idea why the fish there normally scream off the reel.

Just one of those days.

Most success was had fishing flies deep and slow, either black lures or sparklers worked for me. Best areas were from Brownie Bay up to the house, only saw one fish caught past the "island" all day.
